Instagram Content Creation & Short-Form Video Production
The Brief
This high-end boutique salon is known for its transformational color work: dimensional blonding, seamless extensions, and lived-in finishes that are as photogenic as they are technically precise. The work photographs exceptionally well, which makes it naturally suited to visual-first platforms like Instagram and TikTok. But great work alone doesn't build a following. It needs content that captures the craft, shows the process, and makes someone stop scrolling long enough to want it for themselves.
This was a project-based content engagement: a full batch of short-form video content produced end-to-end and formatted for distribution across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. The goal was to give the salon a library of intentional, platform-native Reels that felt elevated, not repurposed salon footage, but content built specifically to perform.
Scope of Work
- Content Strategy Developed a three-part content mix: transformation content (before/after, process clips) as the primary engagement driver; educational pieces to build trust and authority around technique; and lifestyle-driven visuals to make the brand feel aspirational and approachable. High-performing formats were identified and doubled down on.
- End-to-End Production Handled the full production pipeline: concepting ideas, identifying key moments to capture during appointments, directing shots in real time, filming on-site, and editing the final videos.
- Caption Writing & Audio Selection Wrote captions and selected audio for each piece to maximize reach and match the tone of the content: energetic for transformations, informative for educational posts, clean and mood-forward for lifestyle content.
- Cross-Platform Formatting Each video was formatted and optimized for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and Facebook, ensuring platform-native presentation rather than one-size-fits-all reposts.
Impact & Results
Transformation content drove the strongest engagement, with process clips and before/after reveals generating the highest reach and share rates. Educational content built credibility with an audience actively researching color services and extensions. The strategy was built to iterate, using early performance data to refine formats and topics for the strongest consistent output.
